What is the Smart Cities Challenge?

The City of Mount Pearl is participating in a national Smart Cities Challenge and we want your help.

In November 2017, Infrastructure Canada launched the Smart Cities Challenge. It’s a national competition that challenges communities like ours to think outside the box, and generate some big, bold ideas to improve the lives of their residents through innovation and technology.

Across the country, communities are building submissions and competing for one of four awards:

  • One prize of up to $50 million (all communities)
  • Two prizes of up to $10 million (communities with populations under 500,000)
  • One prize of up to $5 million (communities with populations under 30,000)

Where NEXT? The future is in YOUR hands. Help inform Mount Pearl’s Smart Cities Challenge.

Have Your Say, Mount Pearl

Mount Pearl has always been a great place to live and work, and we want to make sure it stays that way for generations to come.

From now until April 11th, we are asking students, residents, business leaders, volunteers, and innovators around our community to help us create Mount Pearl’s submission for the Smart Cities Challenge.

We want to hear from every citizen of Mount Pearl.

What Happens Next?

Once the survey is complete we’ll tally the results and develop a final challenge statement, based on all the great feedback and suggestions we receive.

From there, we’ll need your ideas on how to make our idea a reality. Bold, creative, out of the box thinking, and a passion for the future of Mount Pearl will drive this project forward.

How Can I Get Involved?
